NEWSFLASH: READ LOUISA BUCK’S WONDERFUL ARTICLE ON EXHIBITION FOR CHICKENS AT THE ART NEWSPAPER
YOU ARE INVITED TO WITNESS THE WORLD’S FIRST EXHIBITION FOR CHICKENS.
I am putting on an art exhibition for my chickens. Art from a wide range of artists will be presented for the entire flock to experience, sourced from an open call.
Featuring: Jyll Bradley / Goshka Macuga / George Shaw / Richard Wentworth / Felicity Allen / Paul Heber-Percy / Simon Moretti / Amalia Pica / Koushna Navabi / Savage / Rita Evans / Kes Richardson / Mark King and many more…
WHERE IS THE EXHIBITION TAKING PLACE, AND CAN I COME?
The exhibition will take place in the field adjacent to my home in Kent. Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the exact location is not being made public. Whilst resident chickens will be able to experience the show in person, non-resident and other viewers will be able to see documentation of the exhibition on Instagram.
WHEN WILL THE EXHIBITION TAKE PLACE?
12th May - 12 May 2020 (weather permitting).
What else can we look forward to?
A series of conversations relating to work in the exhibition is currently being planned. Watch this space.
I AM INTERESTED IN TAKING PART: WHAT DO YOU NEED?
Please note the deadline for submissions has now passed - the below is for information purposes only:
I need you to have fun and send me any work that you feel would be suitable for an exhibition for chickens. To make things easy and to adhere to social distancing regulations, in the first instance I am asking for submissions via email in PDF or JPEG format that can be printed out using my domestic printer (i.e. A4). However, I would also welcome submissions by post if you prefer (e.g. postcards. Email me if this is the case and I’ll send you my address. Also, if you’d like to discuss doing something more ambitious, send me an email too.
IS THERE A DEADLINE?
Yes! The date of the opening date is now set - please get work to me by Monday 4th May.
WHAT’S YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS?
jared@jaredschiller.co.uk
WILL I GET MY WORK BACK?
If you send work by email it’s assumed you won’t need anything back. If you send original work please be aware that conditions in the ‘gallery’ are such that the safety of the work cannot be guaranteed, and is more likely than not to get damaged. This is because it is outdoors and the audience is challenging, and includes goats. I will of course arrange the return of any work on request.
I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION that i’d like answering
Please keep an eye on my Instagram where you’ll see videos of the space and I’ll post regularly with updates. Message me, leave a comment or email me with any other questions. Thanks!
