Jeremy Deller recently premiered his new film, ‘Putin’s Happy’, which was shot in and around Parliament Square, London, during the first half of 2019. I was on camera duty for this ride into the dark heart of Brexit, encountering conspiracy theorists, rampant anti-semites, yellow-vest protesters, and people who think it’s come to something when you can’t hear your own language being spoken on your own high street. It’s a depressing watch, and thankfully not online, but is currently being shown at Künstlerhaus, Halle für Kunst und Medien in Graz, Austria, as part of the steirischerherbst’19 festival.
